So I'm Thinking Three Things Tonight

1) I love the sound of Marty Balin's voice.

2) I still miss nash.

3) I'm going to delete this blog.

This Totally Freaks Me Out

So on my checkbook I had a blue Post-It in the shape of an arrow and the date 3/24 written on it. I have no idea what it means or why I wrote it, which is weird because I'm usually very organized. For awhile I actually wondered if it was the date I was going to die, but then I forgot about it and I actually realized today is Thursday, so I'm in the clear...for now, but unless this mystery is solved, we don't know about 3/24/2010. Or 2011, for that matter. Oh wait, I just remembered. It's the date my hairdresser returns from vacation. That's why I had it written in my checkbook--I wrote it down while I was writing her a check last time. Huh. That solves that mystery.

King Kooba, "Big Ole"

I listen to Chill when I do yoga, and sometimes my mind wanders to you.
I picture us, sitting across from each other, smiling.
Not here, not there (sometimes there)
Dim lights, candles, etc.
Somewhere we are both comfortable
I know it will happen someday.

Here Is Some Artwork For You To Enjoy

Tonight I felt like drawing nonsensical things.

I Still Think You're An Asshole

You told me once, "I love her, but I do not yearn for her."
Maybe yearning is what we do best.

Does Anybody Really Like The Grateful Dead?

Last night, my husband and I were playing my favorite card game, Spite and Malice, and we were going through the channels on the satellite radio. Usually I flip back and forth between First Wave and 80's on 8, but after awhile I just can't stand anymore Depeche Mode and Psychedelic Furs. I thought we'd try something different, so I put on The Grateful Dead channel.

My husband hates The Grateful Dead, and last night I asked him why. "It sounds like they're all playing a different song, and their songs go on forever." I wondered if I liked The Grateful Dead. I knew a few songs and they seemed alright. I certainly loved the dancing bears, and I had several tye-dye bear shirts in high school.

But did I really like The Grateful Dead? After about a half hour of listening to them, I don't think I really do. Then I started to think if I knew anybody who really liked them. One of my brother's friends, and everybody always seemed annoyed at him that he wanted to play their music. I always just assumed people said they liked them as sort of a code word for their stoner habits. Like, rather than just ask somebody if they were a stoner, you ask if they like The Grateful Dead. Are they like KISS? All marketing and little substance? Does anybody really like The Grateful Dead?

I just turned The Grateful Dead channel off to discover I missed half of a Public Image Ltd. song. Damn. Stick with what you know, I guess.
